What Makes You a Neighborhood Expert?

There are a lot of people who say that they are “The #1 Agent” or the “Neighborhood Expert”. It’s funny how there can be so many in every company they say that they are the best but are far from that. I guess just writing it makes it so. People love to stroke their egos. Whether it’s how they dress or what they drive, people believe that this will give them instant credibility in the market place. Sure, there needs to be a level of professionalism. I think what’s more important is your skill set. What you bring to the table is more important in my opinion. I dress nice so therefore I am doesn’t cut it. A client has an expectation and would be more impressed with how you handle yourself in a transaction rather than the size of your watch.  So many agents believe that if they brag about what they have done that will dazzle the potential client and in return get them to sign with them.  In a referral based atmosphere, clients will be your sounding board with  positive feedback and fruitful returns. If you have a bad experience, people will also be a sounding board but this time in a negative way. Build your business with truth and integrity. Not with inflated promises that you cannot deliver on. Sow your worth, show your value and it will pay off in the end.
